Challenges and advantages for the first cogeneration plant in the Dominican Republic

In the Caribbean islands, energy can only be procured by purchasing it from other countries at a high price. Hence the idea of a public utility in the Dominican Republic to create a district heating and cooling network that will benefit numerous resorts on the island. It faced various challenges in completing the project, however in the end the entire community realised that this is a win-win initiative.
