The gas produced from the nearby landfill allows Toyota Kentucky to produce clean energy and to reduce CO2 emissions

Chris Adkins - Engineering Specialist, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky

A unique project, with multiple benefits and fully managed by one of the automotive giants. Toyota, in fact, self-produces energy thanks to the waste gas from the nearby landfill, thereby reducing CO2 emissions and the local community, in turn, also benefits as the smells produced by the landfill are cut down. Current production consists of 1 MW of electricity, but the company plans to produce 5 MW by 2025.
