COGEN Europe supports the Clean Energy Package
Market and policy
COGEN Europe supports the new Clean Energy Package proposed by the European Commission, and in a position paper promotes the principle of energy efficiency adopted. Cogeneration currently contributes 10% of the electricity and 15% of the thermal energy produced across Europe; these percentages have the potential to increase in the next few years provided that the correct market model exists and that the contribution of cogeneration in reducing primary energy use and increasing flexibility is recognized.
