In Germany, 20 engines and 190 MW provide heat and electricity to 70,000 people
Industry and tertiary sector
The cogeneration plant devised by the municipally owned company Stadtwerke Kiel is at the forefront of the energy transition (Energiewende) that is taking place in Germany. 20 engines running on natural gas for a total of 190 MW will replace the now outdated coal-fired power plant and will guarantee heat production for a new network of district heating that will reach 70,000 users. This choice is due to two features of the plant, its modularity and flexibility, and also allowed the company to win the award for "Market development" at COGEN Europe.
