Micro-cogeneration with fuel cells. FCH JU’s projects
Technologies and components
The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCHJU) has been operating in Europe since 2008, with a focus on carrying out fuel cells projects in various areas, from the domestic and commercial sectors, to maritime and small industries. The most mature technology is that of micro-cogeneration in the domestic sector, where 17 projects totaling €100 million have been completed. In general, fuel cell technology is still not fully mature and, therefore, the associated costs are still high, but it appears to be the future, particularly when it comes to the hydrogen technology, as it is emission-free. A report will be issued shortly with all the results of the projects carried out so far by the FCH JU.
