Biomethane has great power; not only is its price today cheaper than that of natural gas, but as it is “green”, it is seen as a potential substitute for methane to power industries and commercial and residential buildings in line with the principles of the energy transition. An interesting Dutch study has shown that electrifying a single housing unit or building would cost the consumer 40,000 euro as infrastructural interventions are necessary, while by using biomethane, the existing infrastructures could be used providing considerable savings and greater advantages also from an environmental point of view.
