USA: $500 million in funding to enhance the efficiency of school buildings with CHPs and microgrids
Market and policy
Carlos Gamarra from HARC explains why school buildings such as universities and colleges are ideal candidates for cogeneration in the USA. To date, 280 campuses and 285 schools have already installed cogeneration plants and 103 have developed microgrids. The benefits recognized include a reduction in operating costs, greater reliability and continuity of service, energy saving, resilience and reduction of emissions. Carlos Gamarra also illustrates an application case and explains the possibilities for financing this type of projects.
