Using cogeneration to manage water and air quality in Texas

Gavin Dillingham - Research Scientist Clean Energy Policy, HARC

According to rules in force in Texas at a federal level, there are great opportunities for the development of natural gas cogeneration and district energy in the coming years. The expansion of this technology would ensure better quality air and a more efficient management of water reserves, which are inadequate in Texas. In fact, it is estimated that 25 gallons could be saved each year by 2025 if the use of cogeneration rises to 35%.
