EU Directives: implemented at the regional level in Belgium
Market and policy
In Belgium, European directives on renewable energy and cogeneration are adopted and implemented differently across the various regions (Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels). Moreover, Belgium appears to be more strict than other countries in adopting European laws and this affects market activities. It is for this very reason that Bram De Keulenaere believes it is crucial to simplify procedures and seek a simpler system, in order to allow more investments and therefore make it possible to launch more projects in the renewable energy sector.
