Clean Electricity Payment Program: in the USA, a $150 billion plan to reduce CO₂
Market and policy
Katie Cullen explains the difference between CES (Clean Electricity Standards) and RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standards) and talks about the Democrats’ proposal for a Clean Electricity Payment Program to achieve the decarbonization goals proposed by the Biden administration. The measures included in this proposal do not foresee the use of gas as a source for energy supply. However, as Katie Cullen points out, there are Democratic senators who support the use of natural gas and therefore also of cogeneration, who will press for this technology to be included in the CEPP.
