According to the American Biogas Council's Patrick Serfass there are three US sectors that will witness the highest rates of biogas cogeneration development over the next few years: the wastewater treatment sector, the food processing industry and the biomethane production industry. For biomethane production especially, cogeneration plants are essential for self-producing energy wherever market prices are high.
