Based on data on hand, organic waste could be a significant energy resource in Mexico in the near future, so much so as to replace fossil fuels. 3 processes are currently available to produce biogas from organic waste: wet digestion, dry and semi-dry digestion. Once produced, biogas can be used as an energy carrier, but, if treated, also as fuel for vehicles or as gas to be sold to the national grid.
