Stadtwerke Neuss, the German overtaking investing in biomethane
Industry and tertiary sector
The 2 MW cogeneration plant located in the town of Neuss is fuelled by biomethane and benefits of the tariff provided by the regulatory framework on renewable energy. The heat generated by the plant is used for the heating of the shopping mall located nearby, while the electricity produced is mostly used for the site's wastewater treatment where the plant is located. The remaining energy is injected into the grid. The plant also grants a CO2 reduction equivalent to 10,000 tons per year.
