Canada: cogeneration for cold storage facilities

Jan Buijk - CHP Specialist, EPS AB Energy Canada Ltd.

A 3.3 MW plant installed at a cold storage facility in Ontario provides two benefits. On the one hand, it makes it possible for the company to self-produce electricity. On the other, it allows the reduction of Global Adjustment costs, which are part of Ontario’s energy bill. Moreover, the plant’s energy production can be modulated according to the energy demand on the market.
