The Dätwyler case: a chemical company that self-produces 70% of its energy needs through trigeneration

Massimiliano Novi - Head of Finance, Dätwyler Pharma Packaging Italy

Roberto Mellace - Energy & Utilities Engineer, Dätwyler Pharma Packaging Italy

Dätwyler Pharma Packaging Italy knows that integrating economic sustainability with environmental sustainability is an important goal. This is precisely why Dätwyler chose cogeneration. Thanks to a 1200 kW trigeneration plant, the company, which operates in the chemical-rubber sector, is able to meet 70% of its electric, thermal and cooling energy needs. Given the price of energy in Italy, the use of this system enables an energy-intensive company like Dätwyler to be more competitive and, last but not least, to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions for a total of 867 t/year.
