Over to the industry: renewables and energy efficiency side by side in the Energy Efficiency Directive

Simon, moderator of the annual COGEN Europe conference, reminds us that the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive were still being negotiated at the time and that speakers at the event spoke of the need to consider renewables in combination with energy efficiency; and also that the so-called "primary energy savings" need to be distinguished from consumer savings while taking both into account in the Energy Efficiency Directive.
