COGEN Europe to policymakers: Green Deal is at the center of the post COVID-19 recovery plan
Energy efficiency and cogeneration
Thanks to their flexibility, cogeneration plants can generate energy to be released to the grid in times of instability. During the crisis caused by COVID-19, cogeneration made an important contribution in terms of energy efficiency, security of supply and resilience. With more than 120 GW installed in Europe, cogeneration has provided electricity and heat to many buildings, hospitals and companies during this difficult historical period. For this reason, COGEN Europe calls upon European authorities not to underestimate the potential of cogeneration and to consider the Green Deal as a cornerstone of Europe’s recovery plan.
