Energy efficiency and cogeneration

Biogas and biomethane give new life to cogeneration in North America

Lisa Katz - Director of Business Development and Marketing, CEM Engineering

If natural gas cogeneration is currently at a standstill in Canada and the United States, biogas and hydrogen are expected to be the future along with biomethane. In particular, in the Canadian province of Alberta, there is a shift from the use of hard coal to natural gas and renewables in terms of energy production. Ontario, on the other hand, has nuclear power, but also natural gas and to a lesser extent renewables. Although greater electrification is being considered for power generation, Lisa Katz believes there is still a need for gas, be it methane, biogas or biomethane.
