In compliance with the Paris Agreement and in order to encourage the use of alternative energy sources, Germany has recently introduced the “Innovative KWK” initiative, a financing model for cogeneration projects that aims to stimulate the production of heat from renewable sources. “Innovative” systems consist of traditional cogeneration plants, complemented by heat generators such as heat pumps or solar panels. This incentive system covers plants falling within the scope of tender proceedings, namely 1 to 50 MW installations that inject heat into the grid.
