Germany: certificates for plants connected to the grid. New in 2019

Sebastian Weinkamm - Project Engineer Grid Integration, MKH Greenergy Cert

Starting from April 27, 2019 Law 4110 has entered into force in Germany, which establishes that all plants generating electricity and adding more than 135 kW to the power grid must be in possession of a certification. Moreover, a distinction will soon be made between type A and type B plant certificates: the first for systems that supply more than 950 kW to the grid, while the second for smaller systems starting from 135 kW. The certification is acquired in two steps. The first certificate is issued during the design phase of the plant, in order to be able to connect to the grid, while the second to declare the conformity of the system.
