Authorization process for installing a CHP plant in Alberta

Matt Lensink - Chief Operating Officer, CEM Eingineering

In the Canadian Province of Alberta a number of authorizations are required for the installation of a cogeneration plant. Firstly, building permits and interconnection permits are essential - also from the electrical perspective (approval by the Alberta Utilities Commission is needed to be able to export energy). Equally important are authorizations for atmospheric emissions, noise emissions and for the control of groundwater. Other permits are needed depending on the type of installation. Matt Lensink gives us an example.
